PARENT VISA TO AUSTRALIA

Parent, Aged Parent and Contibutory Parent Visas

If you are a parent with children permanently in Australia who have been permanent residents in Australia for two years or more, then as long as you pass the balance of family test you can apply to move to Australia under the family migration program on a Parent Visa.

2009-2010 SKILLED MIGRATION PROGRAM

  • The visa requires sponsorship from an eligible child in Australia. This can be by a settled child, child’s spouse or guardian.
  • All children (including step children and adopted children) will be included in the Balance of Family Test.
  • There is a mandatory assurance of support bond and health charge to be paid
  • Applications must usually be lodged outside Australia.
  • You are required to satisfy health and character requirements.
  • The Visa has no cut off age and no work profession requirements.

PARENTAUSTRALIAN VISA

  • PARENT
    (Migrant) visa (subclass 103)
    This visa is for parents living outside Australia who are NOT old enough to be granted an Australian aged pension. You must apply for this via outside Australia or off-shoreHOW MUCH DOES THIS VISA COST?

    • 2nd installment $1,235
    • 2nd installment for applicant under 18 years $1,235

    AGED PARENTAUSTRALIAN VISA

    AGED PARENT
    (Residence) visa (subclass 804)

    This visa is for parents living either inside or outside and who are old enough to be granted an Australian aged pension NB: This does not mean that you will receive the age pension, as you must have been an Australian permanent resident for ten years to access the age pension.

    • 1st installment $2,105
    • 2nd installment $1,235
    • 2nd installment for applicant under 18 years $1,235

    Contributory Parent (Permanent) Australian Visa

    (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 143)

    This visa was introduced in March 2003 has more than 3 times the number of Visas (3,500) issued each year than the Parent Visa (1,000). As a result this means that the waiting period for a is much shorter than witht he other visas 12 – 18 months, compared to a 5 – 10 year plus wait for other Parent Visas.

    The difference in the application fees between the visa’s, this is because when you migrate as a Contributory Parent you pay a contribution in the second part of your visa application fee.

    • 1st installment $1,420
    • 2nd installment $31,55
    • 2nd installment for applicant under 18 years $3,165

    Contributory Parent Temporary

    (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 173)

    You can apply for a Migrant Visa (permanent visa which allows you to live in Australia as a permanent resident, permanently) or a Temporary Visa (which allows you to live in Australia as a temporary resident for two years).

    NB: The Temporary Visa can not be extended or renewed, if you wish to remain living in Austarlia you will need to apply for a permanent visa before the temporary visa expires.

    • 2nd installment $18,935
    • 2nd installment for applicant under 18 years $3,165

    Contributry Parent (Migrant) visa
    (from subclass 173 to subclass 143).

    NB: In order to apply for this visa you need to hold a Contributory Parent (visa)
