Perth enjoys a Mediteranium climate a pristine coastline with many beautiful beaches and marine life is plentiful it includes seals, dolphins, whales and many, many species of fish. Perth also has a relaxed friendly lifestyle and as a bonus it is probably the safest City in Australia and one of the safest in the world, making it a great place to start a family.

Perth is in the south west corner of Western Australia, situated on the Swan River (which is really an estuary) 19 km inland from the port of Fremantle, which is on the Indian Ocean.

AUSTRALIAN LINGO
Australian’s speak English although with the Aussie lingo you hear and the Americanisms they use it sometimes makes you wonder)!! I mean flip flops are flip flops aren’t they?? BUT NO In Aussie land they call them thongs.
And fancy calling sweets lollies (better than candy I guess). There is a whole heap of new words I have had to become accustomed to since we have been here.
AUSTRALIAN MONEY
One great thing about Australian Money is that it is made of plastic, great for when you go for a dip in the sea……
Notes $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100.Coins 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, $1 and $2.

SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Education is compulsory in Perth for all children aged between 6 and 15 years. Private school is a popular choice of parents here in Perth as it is much more affordable than in the UK

THE STATE HEALTH SYSTEM AND PRIVATE HEALTH CARE
What we know as the National Health System in the UK is known as Medicare in Western Australia. Contribution to the health care system is made through taxes and the Medicare levy, which is based on taxable income. High income earners (over $100,000 couple) pay an additional 1% medicare levy but you get this back if you have Private Health care

PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN PERTH
While trains and buses may be frequent and reliable traveling from within the metropolitan area into Perth if you want to travel around freely outside of these routes public transport is not the best option and you will need a car.
SPORT AND RECREATION IN PERTH
Due to the great weather you get living in Perth many outdoor sporting and recreational activities are available.
Sailing, Swimming, Surfing, Windsurfing, Kite-surfing, Scuba Diving and Fishing are all popular water sports. If you would like to spend your time not getting wet then you can always go for a Bike Ride, Horse Riding, do a spot of Climbing or Walking, 4×4, go for a picnic have a BBQ (many picnic areas have BBQ’s ready for you to use).
Subiaco Oval is the home to both Perth’s AFL Football Teams, The West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers Living in Perth you will have the opportunity to play many sport’s many are played on the weekend and include Australian Football, Soccer (English Football), Golf, Hockey, Rugby and much, much more….
PLACES TO VISIT
Rottnest Island, Perth Zoo, Penguin Island, Caversham Park, Pinnacles, Yanchep National Park, Adventure World can all be visited on a day trip. If you would like to travel a little further afield then Margaret River, Pemberton, Ningaloo Reef, Kalbarri, Monkey Mia, Bungle Bungle Ranges.
