2008 SCHOOL BILL UP TO $

The Cost Australia education is on the up. Thelatest CPI sub-index figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show school costs are rising by 7.1% a year.

Figures released by the children’s education organisation released in January 2008 show how, by the time parents of children born this year are ready to send their kids to school the cost Australia education will have increased to $52,000 for a government high school education.

If they choose to send their children into a Catholic secondary school then the cost of education will have increased to $131,000, while the cost of a private secondary education tops in at $261,000

It makes sense to prepare for the children’s school fees in advance with a disciplined saving approach.

Government Secondary School – $38-$45 per week
Systemic Schooling – $94 – 112 per week
Private Schooling – $187 – $221 per week

Start saving early so as to minimise the pain, you may even receive taxation benefits.

Parents of year 11 & 12 students will be eligible for the State Government’s $200 one-off “It Pays To Learn” allowance.

It is avaiable to parents of children turning 16 or 17 at school, TAFE or doing an apprenticeship or traineeships. This is not means tested and available whether your children go to public or private school. Application forms need to be returned by March 20 2008.
