Life in Perth

Issue #10, January/February/March 2006

Well I cant believe how quickly the time seems to be passing by. Australia Day has already been and gone and so has Valentines Day and we are already into March & I am only just mailing the first e-zine of the year to you.

I trust you all had a FAB Christmas and New Year. We did, friends came over and we went for a swim down at Hillarys before Christmas lunch (yes we did have turkey)

The beginning of the year has been really crazy. I have been busy giving the house a complete face lift. The intention has been there to do it for ages (got the paint at the begining of last year). I finally found the motivation when my Dad told me he would be visiting at the beginning of March. He will be the first family to visit so I am really excited.

I have also been busy with some study. I am going through the process of becoming a licenced mortgage broker and I sat my Certificate IV exams in Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage Broking) last Friday. In Western Australia the mortgage brokering industry is regulated so you have to meet certain requirements before you are allowed to trade.

I work for Accrete Financial Services as a Finance Consultant and at the end of March will be available for any guidance you may want on buying your first Australian home. YES, looking after you will be my number one priority. So if you are looking to buy your Perth home and have questions be sure to drop me a line.

Do you have any FAQ’s?

I am introducing a new section to the Immigrate Perth website called Frequently Asked Questions FAQ’s. It’s always difficult to know what information to research and publish on Immigrate Perth next. I get asked so many things and just dont have the time to cover everything in details all at the same time.

By including an FAQ page I can include responses to the most asked questions with links to another resource until I have time to cover an area in more detail. So if you have any questions you would like featured then let me have them. I will start to included responses to the FAQ’s just as soon as I can.

OK so what have been the changes in the last few months?

#1) Australian Immigration Experience

The migration story I am sharing with you this issue is how Dayle migrated here with his wife (already am Australian citizen) and their two girls. Dale migrated over to Perth on a Partner Visa in Dec 2005.

Do you have a migrant story to share?

Each month I would like to talk to migrants and bring you their migration experience. If you have a story to share please use this link and drop me a line. It would be great to do a feature each issue on someone new so do get in touch.

#2)Transfering Your UK Pension

There will be some changes in the UK on April 6th which may affect the transfer of your pension.

Please click here to read more about what I have read on UK pensions over the last month

#3)Becoming an Australian Citizen

Gareth and I have been here in Perth 2 years and 4 months and on Wednesday 22 February we went forward to take Oath and Affirmation after which we recieved out certificate of Australian Citizenship. It was a memorable and enjoyable experience, one I hope you get to enjoy one day.

#4)Using a Migrant Agent

One of the first decisions you need to make when you have decided to migrate to Perth is if you need to use a Migrant Agent?

We did and migrated over here on a Skilled Migrant Visa. Using an agent made the whole process stress free for us as the agent told us what we needed to do and what we needed to write.

The choice is of course yours but to help a little I have given you some hints to help you get the best service out of your migrant agent.

Please click here to be taken through to Australia Immigration Agent

#5)Updated Suburb Profile since the last E-Zine
